Good afternoon Manta Rays families - 

Planning for the 2017 swim team season is well underway. We are excited to see everyone at the pool again this summer!! 

We are looking for a few new Stroke & Turn Judges for the upcoming season. This is a great way to fill your required volunteer spots and be on deck during the meet :) 

Stroke & Turn Judges (new & returning) are REQUIRED to complete an annual training clinic (clinic dates are below). If you are interested in stepping up to be a Stroke & Turn Judge, please respond to this email and let me know so we can plan accordingly.

For our returning Stroke & Turn Judges, there is also the opportunity in being trained as a starter for this year.  In order to serve as a starter you must have at least 1 year experience as a stroke and turn judge.  If you would like to step up for starter, you would need to attend the longer course for NEW volunteers in the position plus your refresher for current position.

Just as a reminder, dual meet dates are as follows: 

Meet #1 AWAY (Smithson Valley pool) - Saturday, May 27th  (Memorial Day weekend) 
Meet #2 HOME (Mountain Lodge pool vs Braun Station) - Monday, June 5th 
Meet #3 AWAY (Cibolo Canyons' pool) - Saturday, June 10th
Meet #4 HOME (Mountain Lodge pool vs Stone Mountain) - Monday June 19th 
Championship Weekend (ALL SWIMMERS at Palo Alto Natatorium) Sat June 24th/Sun June 25th, TBA
All Star Meet (for qualifying swimmers at Palo Alto Natatorium) - Thursday June 29th, time TBA

Clinics for RETURNING from 2016 - Ref, Starter, and Stroke & Turn Judges:

OBJECTIVE: To present a review for returning MSSL 2016 stroke & turn judges, starters, referees, and coaches who attended a MSSL 2016 Rules Clinic. The 2017 MSSL league rule changes are discussed and all questions are answered. 

Clinic # 1A: Sunday, May 7th, 2017 from 1 - 2 p.m. - JCC
Clinic # 2A: Saturday, May 13th, 2017 from 1 - 2 p.m. - JCC
Clinic # 3A: Sunday, May 21st, 2016 from 1 - 2 p.m. - JCC

OBJECTIVE: To familiarize new stroke & turn judges, starters, referees, team reps, and coaches with the MSSL Rules and to answer all questions.

Clinic # 2B: Saturday, May 13th, 2017 from 2 - 4 p.m. - JCC
Clinic # 3B: Sunday, May 21st, 2016 from 2 - 4 p.m. - JCC

There is also an Optional Poolside Clinic - Tuesday May 23 at JCC Pool from 6-7 for hands on training in addition to the required clinics above.
