    READ - CHAMPS REMINDERS/CHANGES

    READY, SET, SWIM.....

Coach Claudia, Mauricio, and I went to the Division 1 Champs this morning to see how the meet runs at this pool. There are a couple changes we are making based on what we saw this morning and some important reminders.

To bring: 2 pairs of goggles, swim cap, 2 towels, blanket for some cushion on bleachers, sharpies, highlighters, something to entertain swimmers at home base, pack a couple drinks and snacks in swimmer's bag -- NO COOLERS allowed per NISD.  Swimmers will be under the tents or indoors -- will NOT need sunscreen.

We will bring our team tents.

    • I MAY need 1-3 more tents.  Will not know until tomorrow morning when I see the amount of outside area designated for our swimmers.
    • If a couple parents could bring and leave in your car, incase we need it I would appreciate it.
    • Let Mandy know at check in if you have a tent to borrow.
    • I would love for a couple dads to meet Mark at home base around 6:45 am to help him set up the tents. PRETTY PLEASE AND THANKS!

Swimmers will NOT need chairs.  They moved all the bleachers from the side of the pool outside. Home base is a very tight area.  Swimmers will sit in the outside bleachers while waiting to line up.

    Moving check-in to 6:50 am

    • Check in your swimmer (outside the building in the front)
    • Volunteers check in with Mandy
    • Start marking swimmer's arm with the table and event numbers
    • At 7:00 am - go inside to buy a heat sheet ($5 exact change please -- NO BIG BILLS)
    • You will want a heat sheet to follow along with the meet -- the meet can be slightly confusing because it is running in 2 pools
    • MARK swimmer's arm with heat and lane
    • 7:10 am all swimmers need to be at home base for a team meeting
    • 7:20 am warm up starts
    • After warm up, all swimmers go to home base to line up for relays and freestyle races
    • At the end of the meet, please collect ALL your belongings and pick up trash in your area

NISD set up the pool in reverse.  So now the pool by the entrance will host all beginning relays and 11 and up.  The pool at the other end will host all 10 and under events.

    Pool by the entrance - beginning medley relays and swimmers 11 and up: Event #s: 1-8,15-20, 25-30, 33-38, 45-50, 55-60, 65-68

    Far end pool (swimmers ages 10 and under): Event #s: 9-14, 21-24, 31-32, 39-44, 51-54, 61-64

Reminder: ALL SWIMMERS ALL AGES WILL STAY AT HOME BASE.  PLEASE LET YOUR SWIMMERS KNOW THEY ARE TO REMAIN AT HOME BASE and REMIND THEM AGAIN ABOUT BEING CALM AND KEEPING HANDS TO THEMSELVES WHILE AT HOME BASE AND READY BENCH (much improved at the last meet)!!  THE HOME BASE PARENTS WILL HAVE A SHEET FOR SWIMMERS TO CHECK IN/OUT IF GOING TO RR, BUYING FOOD, ETC.  THIS WILL BE A FAST MEET.  WE WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO GO LOOKING FOR SWIMMERS.

PARENTS OF YOUNGER SWIMMERS: Please make sure your swimmer gets back to home base after their race.  There will be a lot of people there tomorrow and it can be very intimidating for the younger swimmers.  Please make sure to help them find their way back to home base after they get out of the water.

On Monday, I will send out a list of swimmers that qualify for All-Stars -- these swimmers will attend the All-Stars Meet on Tuesday at Wildhorse.  We will NOT have a practice between Champs and All-Stars.  Coach Claudia wants swimmers to rest on Monday and be ready to race on Tuesday.

Please make sure swimmers get to bed early tonight!

Go Manta Rays!  Good luck tomorrow!
