    Meet 2 and Weather

Email from our league president about Rainy Day Meets:

    Dear Monday night host teams,
I want you to share this information/rules with all of your parents in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

    Rules regarding rain states:
    1. All teams must show up or forfeit the meet.
    2. Only the meet referee can cancel a meet at the host pool.
    3. You can swim in the rain, but not when there is lightning or thunder which can cause a delay of 30 minutes or more--before or during the meet--but not necessarily cause a cancelation of the entire meet.
    4.  If the meet starts and you have gone through event #38 and the meet gets canceled at that point, then the meet is considered finished, the meet is scored, and awards are only given through the last event.
    5.  If the meet begins and DOES NOT get through event #38 and the meet is canceled due to lightening and thunder after waiting out the delay/s, then teams must agree on a rescheduled meet date before leaving the pool.  The rescheduled meet will continue at the point where it left off and continues until finished.

Note: It is not easy to reschedule a meet as teams are very limited as to the day they can use their pool.

    Thanks,
    Donna Witt
    MSSL President
