RECENT EAR INFECTIONS
PARENTS,
This is an important notice if you want to take this in consideration. We have been having a lot of our swimmers coming up with Swimmer's Ear or ear infection for the past couple of weeks and we have 2 more days till Championship Meet , please take care.
Below is what a Dr. told one of our swimmers that came up with ear infection:
While it is not confirmed, he believes swimmer's ear bacteria CAN be transmitted in a pool. He says it takes a pool 24-36 hours to rid the water of the bacteria that causes swimmer's ear and if the kids are in every day it usually doesn't get the chance to get rid of it. Therefore he said he's not surprised nearly half the team right now has it. He strongly suggests the following:
Using this recipe and flush the ears with this solution before and/or after swimming.
1/2 Rubbing Alcohol
1/2 white vinegar
This is SIMILAR but not exactly the same as the over the counter medicines that's often called "swimmer's ear prevention drops" made by several different companies. He likes this home-made concoction better.
Thanks,
Coach Claudia
